2023, Coral Gardeners

Coral Gardeners is an incredible group of young surfers, divers, and spearfishers, who absolutely love the islands they are grateful to call home. Their growth over nearly a decade has positioned them as one of the most recognizable conservation and rehabilitation organizations in the world. Their key to success as a company and for their mission is rigorous transparency and data. The UN cites data collection as a challenge to achieving their Sustainable Development Goals equal in importance to any one of the systematic impediments to success. Coral Gardners works tirelessly to change the tide and deliver usable, scalable data on their coral rehabilitation efforts.

I was introduced to this incredible team by a former colleague, Karine Toumazeau, and began by spending a week on-site with the Coral Gardeners conducting an audit of their team’s dynamic and identifying the idiosyncracies that make them uniquely resilient. From this snapshot, we’ve developed a robust design plan that supports who they are as a team, and who they will become in the near future. This plan was finalized with another two-week sprint on-site with the team.
